The Hocking SWCD was organized April 5, 1944 after the passage of the Ohio Soil Conservation Act.  Our purpose is to help bring about conservation and development, with the wise use of land, water and other related resources.  The District is funded by the county and also receives state matching funds.

The District originally provided assistance to local farmers to improve conservation methods and has since expanded to include assistance to all landowners within the county.  More information about these services is provided throughout the web site.
